What To Expect

Within a short drive through Kamo road, you will see the wild side of Whangarei. Be awed by the big cats experience. There’s lots to see, big loud cats, guided tours, enrichment, and more. Nothing quite matches a lion experience. Male lion is something to behold, and if you catch them at one of their public-facing fence-line games, you’ll definitely know you are alive. A chance to learn more about the male and female African lions, royal Bengal tigers, melanistic black leopard and south African cheetah.

A Bengal tiger experience is just as thrilling and look out for their sudden appearance. They have all the tricks and traits of domestic cats; full of speed, surprise, and stalking skills. You may leave the big cats sanctuary, but our cats will stay with you in your memories for a long time. You will get a chance to see the one of the big cats handfed.

Whangarei Falls
We embrace the naturistic Whangarei to visit a cascading waterfall over a cliff. Enjoy the sights, sounds and smell of the native New Zealand bush. If you are seeking a stunningly scenic walk that encompasses a picturesque waterfall and natural “quintessential” New Zealand native bush, this fall will never disappoint you at any instance.

Whangarei Falls is a majestic 26m waterfall that cascades over basalt cliffs (formed over 2 million years ago) into an enticing pool at its base. This waterfall is known as one of New Zealand’s most “photogenic” and is easily accessible and a few minutes from the car park. There is a viewing platform from the top (one of 3 viewing platforms), and/or go for an easy walk down a well-maintained track to the base – a perfect place to be surrounded by this tranquil native scenery. Theres a lovely picnic spot at the base of the waterfall. The two viewing platforms above the waterfall give spectacular views of the falls and a bird’s eye view of the forest.
